When to Replace Your Boiler Published on March 04, 2017 Is your boiler in need of replacing? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple indicators to look for when choosing whether it’s time to invest in a new boiler. Age If your condensing boiler has annual maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to consider an upgrade. Bills If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to service your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to invest in a new, more efficient boiler. Discoloration If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company as soon as possible. Comfort If some of the sections in your home are too warm or too cool and you can’t seem to control them properly or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you could need to look into upgrade choices.
