What to do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite Published on February 23, 2017 We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a couple things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. Check Air Filters You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you don’t, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction. Check Your Thermostat See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.” Check the Power It may seem obvious, but verify the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position. If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 801-871-8425 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
